No powder, makeup (you're gonna be sweating, living in a fox hole, out on the range in the rain, going on 10 mile marches, setting up tents, eating in a mess hall, wearing a kevlar, nope, no makeup required for that), no you don't have to cut your hair, pony tails are the best if it's long, yes you will take showers with other female soldiers, yes you will sleep in one big room/rooms. You'll have a good time though cause you all will be suffering together and you'll make some lifelong friends as well as experience different cultures. God Bless you.For females who are in boot camp are they allowed to bring basic cosmetics like powder, lip gloss...ect?
Just wanted to add that the Navy DOES require haircuts for women. It must be off the collar, and I would recommend getting it cut yourself ahead of time rather than having them do it during processing. Report Abuse
You can take the makeup, just don't expect to be allowed to wear it. You really wouldn't, as you will be spending a lot of time getting dirty.
The only time the Army makes a female get her hair cut short, is if she can't, or won't keep it up and off her collar (get used to a bun, or French twist).
You will most likely share a room with 1 - 2 other females and being male and retired for the last 10 years, I cannot guess at the shower facilities, but would imagine that they are still communal.
Sure you can bring it. It will look nice on graduation day. You really won't be needing it until then, though.
You can keep your hair long, if you can put it up in a bun so that none of it hanging out. It has to be able to stay in, even while climbing obstacles and doing exercises. My hair is very long, it reaches the small of my back. My trick is to put in a pony tail, braid the ponytail, put another tie on the end, then twist the whole thing around in a bun, applying another hairtie around the whole bun. It's neat, and won't budge.
Showers are limited and there usually aren't any curtains. Sometimes two girls have to share a shower head. You might all be in the same room. I was lucky, we were in old regular army (not recruit) barracks, so there were only three women in my room. But they took the doors off, so it wasn't a ton of privacy...
Leave your cosmetics at home you can not have anything scented or ever lacy bras. You do not have to cut your hair short but it has to be long enough to be pulled back because it can not touch your collar. Taking showers with others will be a necessity and get used to peeing in front of them too for drug tests. You will sleep in on big room and everyone will be responsible for cleaning but some will be lazy.
Powder and lip gloss? You are not supposed to look pretty during this time. You will be training for war, thus lip gloss would be useless.
Hell no!
yes, do this, send me a video of your succes
